California Sportsmen for Public Lands is a coalition of California hunting and fishing groups committed to “keeping public lands in public hands” and protecting and enhancing access to California’s public lands and waters for current and future generations of hunters and anglers. We bring together diverse sporting interests to advocate for:

  • Permanent protection of existing public lands from sale or disposal.

  • Conservation of fish and wildlife habitat and populations on public lands and waters.

  • Expansion of public access to landlocked public lands and waters.

Mission

Core Beliefs

California's unique hunting and fishing heritage depends on healthy, accessible public lands and waters.

Public lands belong to all Americans and must never be sold or transferred unless as specifically authorized by legislation developed with local community and stakeholder input and support.

Public lands in California provide most of the best remaining upland, forest and alpine habitat and sporting opportunities we have left in this state.

Public access to public lands for hunting and fishing must be sustained and, where appropriate, expanded.

Sportsmen and women are the original conservationists and committed stewards of our wild places and fish and wildlife populations.

Our coalition is diverse in the communities and interests we represent. But we are unified in our value of public lands, and commitment to ensuring that all Americans have access to these lands.

Vision

By working together, we will ensure that future generations of hunters and anglers in California will be able to experience the same opportunities we enjoy today: to hunt, fish, and experience the freedom, adventure and solitude that only our wild public lands provide.
